Joshua in the Daily Office Lectionary
The Daily Office Lectionary appoints Joshua 19 times in its two-year course. The course reads 12 of its 24 chapters, 6 of them in full.
Chapter by chapter
- Year One reads chapter 1 during Christmas, at Morning Prayer.
- Year Two reads chapters 1–10, 23–24 during Christmas, Easter, and the Season after Pentecost, at Morning Prayer.
Joshua chapters: both years 1; Year Two only 2–10, 23–24; not in the two-year course 11–22; in part 4–5, 7–10.
- Year One only
- Year Two only
- Both years
- Half filled: only part of the chapter
- Not in the two-year course
When both offices have two lessons, “the Old Testament Reading for the alternate year is used as the First Reading at Evening Prayer” (BCP p. 934). This site and the app follow that rubric, so most of these lessons are heard twice: at Morning Prayer in the year listed, and at Evening Prayer on the same day in the other year.
