Overview
Gracelight is published by Tilden Software LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”). It has no account system and does not operate an app backend. This policy covers the app and this website.
The app
The prayers, canticles, collects, and calendar are bundled inside the app and are assembled on your device. The app does not send the office you choose, the dates you visit, or your prayer progress to us.
Your rite, appearance, theme, font, text size, line spacing, prayer guidance, scripture opening preference, prayer times, and reminders are stored on the device using standard iOS app storage. We do not sync them, and the app does not share them with anyone. They remain there until you change the setting, delete a reminder, disable reminders, or delete the app.
Prayer customizations, bookmarked prayers, and personal intentions you type into the app are likewise stored only on the device, in a file protected by iOS data protection. We never receive them.
Deleting the app removes this data from the device. If you back up your device to iCloud or a computer, the backup contains the app’s data, including your intentions. That backup stays under your control until you delete it.
Reminders and notifications
Prayer reminders are scheduled as local notifications on your device. The app does not use a server push notification service. You can edit or delete reminders in the app, and you can revoke notification permission in iOS Settings.
Scripture requests
Prayer assembly runs locally. When the app loads in-app scripture, it requests the passage in the translation you chose in Scripture settings. Most translations come from the YouVersion Platform. The World English Bible, and readings from books a chosen translation doesn’t include, come from bible-api.com. Each request includes the passage reference, the translation, and ordinary connection information, such as your IP address. Requests to YouVersion also identify the app, but not you. The app makes these requests when a passage loads and when you tap Retry after a failed load. Successful passages are cached in memory, not on disk, for the rest of the session. Failed passages are not cached.
Both services are operated by third parties. YouVersion’s privacy policy applies to the requests it receives. bible-api.com’s public documentation describes rate limits and availability limits, but we have not verified a log-retention period for its scripture requests. We do not receive these requests.
External links
If you choose to open a passage in YouVersion or Bible.com, your device opens that app or website, and that service’s own terms and privacy policy apply to the request. If you email support, your message and email address are handled by the email providers involved in sending and receiving the message.
Diagnostics
The app does not include analytics, advertising identifiers, or third-party marketing SDKs. If you choose to share analytics with app developers in iOS Settings, Apple may share crash reports and basic diagnostics with us. These do not identify you to us. If we add our own crash reporting, we will update this policy before turning it on.
This website
The website is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes your IP address and ordinary request information to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse. Most pages are static files. For the “today” pages, our code uses Cloudflare’s estimate of your time zone, based on your IP address, to show the right day’s office. We do not store that estimate or your IP address.
We use Fathom Analytics to count page views and see which pages are useful. Fathom does not use cookies and does not store IP addresses or build profiles of individual visitors. If you install the site as a web app, a flag in your browser’s session storage keeps each launch from being counted more than once; it is cleared when you close the app.
Your website theme, appearance, and reader choices are saved in your browser’s local storage so they persist between visits. They are not sent to us, and clearing your browser data removes them. Embedded readings on other sites do not load analytics.
If you follow an email or other external link, that service handles your request under its own privacy policy.
Optional contributions
If you choose to support the project, our website sends your selected amount and billing frequency to Stripe to create a checkout session. Stripe collects your email address, payment details, and information needed to process the payment in its embedded checkout. Card and bank account details go directly to Stripe; this website does not store them.
If you enter a name at checkout to be listed as a supporter, whether your own, a dedication, or a parish or organization’s, Stripe stores it with your contribution record. If we approve the listing, we publish that name on our website, with a link if an organization gives us one. Email micah@usedailyoffice.com at any time to have a listing removed.
We can access contribution and customer records in Stripe to manage payments, recurring support, and requests for help. The website checks payment status with Stripe to show your confirmation. These records are separate from your prayer preferences and activity in the app. Stripe’s Privacy Policy describes how it handles payment information and how it uses cookies and similar technologies on the contribution page.
How long we keep information
Support emails are kept as long as needed to help you and keep a record of the conversation. Contribution records are kept in Stripe as long as needed to manage payments and meet tax, accounting, and legal obligations. You can ask us to delete support emails or contribution records at any time; we will do so unless the law requires us to keep them.
Your choices and requests
We do not sell or share your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising. You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, which is limited to support emails and Stripe contribution records, and ask us to correct or delete it. Email micah@usedailyoffice.com and we will respond within 30 days. Data stored only on your device is under your control; deleting the app removes it.
Children
Gracelight is suitable for all ages, but neither the app nor the website is directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes and contact
Updates to this policy will appear here with a revised date. If a change affects how the app handles your data, we will update this policy before the change takes effect.
