Using Gracelight
These terms cover your use of the Gracelight app and this website, provided by Tilden Software LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By using them, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please stop using the app and website.
Gracelight is free to use. It has no ads and requires no paid subscription or account. You may use it for personal prayer and worship with others. Please use it lawfully and do not disrupt its operation or attempt to gain unauthorized access to related services.
App distribution
Downloads through the App Store or TestFlight are also subject to the applicable Apple terms. For App Store downloads, Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement applies unless a separate app license is provided. These terms do not replace applicable Apple terms or limit rights they grant you.
Prayer texts and other content
The app includes texts from the 1979 Book of Common Prayer and scripture with source attributions. Public-domain texts remain in the public domain; these terms do not restrict your use of them. Other content, names, and marks remain subject to their owners’ rights and any applicable licenses.
Gracelight is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or published on behalf of The Episcopal Church or any other church or denomination.
We work to present the prayers, readings, and calendar accurately, but transcription and software errors may occur. Please report mistakes through our support page.
Your content
Personal intentions, prayer customizations, and bookmarks you create in the app belong to you. They stay on your device and we never receive them, so we cannot recover them if your device is lost or the app is deleted. Keep a device backup if you want to preserve them.
Feeds and embedded readings
You may subscribe to our feeds and place our embedded readings on your own website, newsletter, or parish materials, provided you keep the attribution and link back to Gracelight and do not suggest that we endorse you or your content. We may change, limit, or withdraw feeds and embeds at any time.
Optional contributions
You can choose to support Gracelight with a one-time, monthly, or annual contribution. Contributions are voluntary gifts to Tilden Software LLC, a for-profit company, not a charity. They are not tax-deductible and do not unlock features, content, or support in the app.
Monthly and annual contributions renew automatically at the same amount until you cancel. You can cancel at any time by emailing micah@usedailyoffice.com or, when available, through the manage link on the contribution page; cancellation stops future charges. Refunds are at our discretion. We will refund duplicate or mistaken charges, so please email us if something looks wrong.
One-time gifts over $1,000 are paid from a US bank account and can take several business days to clear. For larger gifts or to give by check, email us.
Anyone who gives at a qualifying level can ask to be listed as a supporter on our website: by name, as a family, by initials, with a dedication, or on behalf of a parish or organization. Monthly and annual support of at least $10 a month or $100 a year is listed while it continues; a one-time gift of $100 to $999 is listed for twelve months; a one-time gift of $1,000 or more is listed permanently, meaning for as long as the website runs. Listings are names only, with a link for organizations. We review each request and may decline it, and we may remove a listing if an organization closes or no longer meets these terms. We always remove a listing when its supporter asks. A listing is not an endorsement by either party, and a declined or removed listing does not entitle anyone to a refund.
Stripe processes payments, and Stripe’s terms apply to them. Our Privacy Policy explains what payment information we can access.
Scripture services and external links
Scripture requests and links to YouVersion, bible.com, and other services depend on third parties. Their content, availability, and use are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We do not control those services or guarantee that a particular translation or link will remain available. Your internet provider’s usual data charges may apply.
Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how the app and website handle data, including requests to scripture services and messages you send us.
Availability and responsibility
We may update, change, or discontinue features. Beta versions may contain errors or stop working. To the extent permitted by law, the app and website are provided as available, without warranties of accuracy, uninterrupted availability, or fitness for a particular purpose.
To the extent permitted by law, Tilden Software LLC is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the app or website, and our total liability for any claim relating to them is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or $100. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limits your mandatory consumer rights.
Ending use
You can stop using Gracelight at any time by deleting the app. We may suspend access to the website or related services for anyone who misuses them. Sections that by their nature should continue, such as those on contributions, responsibility, and governing law, continue after you stop using Gracelight.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute relating to them will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Illinois, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring it elsewhere. Before filing a claim, please email us so we can try to resolve it informally.
Changes and contact
Updates to these terms will appear here with a revised date. For material changes, we will also post a notice on the website or in the app. Changes apply prospectively, with any notice or consent required by applicable law.
These terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any applicable Apple terms, are the whole agreement between you and us about Gracelight. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect, and if we do not enforce a term, we have not waived it.
