Nehemiah in the Daily Office Lectionary

The Daily Office Lectionary appoints Nehemiah 10 times in its two-year course. The course reads 10 of its 13 chapters, 5 of them in full.

Chapter by chapter

  • Year One reads chapters 1–2, 4–9, 12–13 during the Season after Pentecost, at Morning Prayer.
  • Year Two does not read it in the course.

When both offices have two lessons, “the Old Testament Reading for the alternate year is used as the First Reading at Evening Prayer” (BCP p. 934).
